記憶について一言

私は最近「Smarter Better Faster」と言う勉強とやる気の本を読んだ。すごく面白くて、うまく書いたと思う。我々の脳の動き方と仕掛けについて情報と例えが満々だった。

 

Recently I finished reading a book about learning and motivation called "Smarter Better Faster".

Very interesting and well written I thought and there was a lot good information and clear examples of how our brains work and how to take advantage of our abilities.

 

１つの読んだ面白いところは字の綺麗さについてだった。

新しい単語を聞くと辞書で調べば更に暗記できると聞いたことあるでしょう。それともノートに書けば忘れる可能性が減る。そのノートを復習しなくても。

（もちろん、復習する方がいいんだけど。。。）

 

One very interesting thing I read was about handwriting.

You may have heard that it helps to look up words in a dictionary when you learn them. Or perhaps that writing down the new things you hear will help you remember them, even if you never go back and review those notes.

(Of course, it's better if you DO review them though)

 

そのような行動をすると脳の中に絆を作っている。書くと脳の書く部分につながっている。調べると脳の読む部分につながっている。

絆は多い方がいい。家にふせん紙がどんどん乗せると思い出す機会が増やす。

 

The reason is that when you do those things it connects the new information to different parts of your brain. When you write it, you are connecting it to your writing center. When you look it up, you are connecting it to the reading part.

The more connections the better. The more sticky notes you put around the house, the more likely you are to notice and remember.

 

だが、私が気に入ったのは汚い文字を読むことも役に立ている。

脳は言葉を解読しないといけない時とまた別の絆を作っている。

 

The interesting thing that I read though, was that bad handwriting is valuable in the same way. 

If your brain has to decipher the writing then it's building different kinds of connections.

 

面白い。

（もちろん汚い文字で書くことは何も手伝っていないから、この情報を言い訳として使わないでください！）

 

Interesting. 

(Of course, writing with bad handwriting doesn't help you so don't use this as an excuse to write sloppily!)

 

でも先生として、私の醜い字をもう謝らなくてもいいという意味かな？笑

 

But as a teacher, does this mean that I don't have to apologize for my messy lesson notes now? LOL
