不思議な国2

I enjoy helping people create correct sentences.

In fact, a large part of my job is catching mistakes and fixing them.

Tests like TOEIC require the perfect choice even if some of the other answers are enough to communicate.

Everyone wants perfection.

 人を正しい文書を作る事に手伝うのが好き。

実はそれは私の仕事の大事な一部です。

TOEICみたいな試験は一番適切な答えを必要としている。他の答えが実の会話に十分通じても。

みんなが完璧を求めている。

But...in America I saw how much it just doesn't matter in daily conversation.

I had forgotten that nobody really cares as long as the conversation is clear.

Of course, there are so many foreigners in America that we're used to mistakes from people who are still learning English.

It's no problem.

But native speakers make mistakes all the time too.

 だが。。。アメリカには日常会話にそれはそんなに大切ではないと気づいた。

はっきりさえ通じれば、誰も気にしていない。

もちろんアメリカに外国人が多いから、まだ勉強している人の間違いを聞く事に慣れている。

問題は一切なし。

でもネーティブもよく間違っている。

One day I heard my mother say, "I have been coming here since 35 years".

ある日、母は "I have been coming here since 35 years." と言った。

This is wrong because there should be "ago" at the end.

 最後に "ago" と言わなかったからこれは間違い。

Later I heard someone say, "Both Brian and me like it".

そのあと誰かが "Both Brian and me like it" と言った。

"Me" is incorrect. It should be "I" because it is the subject of the sentence.

"Me"は間違いだ。これは文章の主語から "I" のはずだ。

Kids make mistakes with comparatives ("It's more big than yesterday") and irregular verbs ("He gived me some food") all the time.

子供達はよく比較と不規則動詞に間違っている。例えば "It's more big than yesterday" か "He gived me some food"。

I don't want to say that grammar isn't important. But I think it's good to be aware that we make mistakes all the time and yet conversation goes on. No one cares about the mistakes.

文法は大切ではないと言うつもりはない。でも間違いがあるに関わらず、会話が続く事を意識した方がいいと思う。
